This gun was built to test the use of beautiful "figured" wood types as a viable option for the construction of larger spearguns. Normally, straight-grained wood is preferred to minimize warping and/or twisting after rigorous use and exposure to the elements. With the Titanium tubing laminated into the wood, we wanted to prove the added rigidity and reinforcement using non-standard grain selections.

A tiger-striped (flamed) teak was selected for this Pro 60" model. The wood's grain was neither vertical (1/4 sawn), nor straight (end to end). The finished gun was also oiled instead of epoxy coated to increase its exposure to the elements.

PERFORMANCE UPDATE: This gun as been heavily used over the past year by Daniel; going to Baja California, Puerto Vallarta, the Channel Islands, and Cortes Bank. It has also been used as the Sea Sniper loaner gun and has been beat up on pangas, left in the hot Baja sun, soaked in the bait tank on the Horizon dive boat. etc. and it has not warped, checked, split, or twisted!

As a result of this rigorous stress-testing, all Pro 60 models come standard with figured, hand selected teak for a unique "natural camo" look.
