These Custom 63s were a blast to build. While attending school at the Maritime Academy in Vallejo, CA, best friends (and current National Team Champions), Ryan Moore and Brandon Wahlers hung out at the shop when they had some free time.
When they weren't studying or chasing girls, Ryan and Brandon helped in the construction of their own guns. The guns started out with the Pro Series design (except for the non-standard 63" length) but what made these guns special was the finish. |
A black dye was applied after the final sanding, and the guns were coated with several layers of epoxy. Special (identical) skull graphics, drawn by tattooist Jeff Croci, were added to each gun. One skull, applied to Bradon's left-handed model, was wrapped from left to right. The other, applied to Ryan's gun, was wrapped from right to left. When put side-by-side, the full graphic appears on the top decks.
Since Brandon and Ryan wanted the same guns with some unique customizations, a little extra planning went into the build. The top decks were cut from the same piece of teak and "book matched" for a mirror-image effect. Since Brandon is left handed, the breakaway loop for the pigtail was drilled into the left side of the gun, instead of the right.
