GOTM - August 2007

Torch

Like Don Mousseau's Pro 60, this gun was also a pleasure to build - but for a completely different reason.

Unlike Don, I did not know Steve at all before building this gun so when we had our initial discussion about the gun, I was a bit taken aback. Other than the gun length and shaft size, Steve wasn't particular about anything!

When it came to the dye job/finish, he told me to do anything I wanted! He even told me to take my time with the build. Having total creative freedom made it feel as if I was building the gun for myself; but instead of keeping it for myself, I couldn't wait to send it to Steve. I guess I was just curious about his reaction to a gun he left in my hands to customize.

Using a similar style as Daren's "Afro-Ninja", I used the same dye, but faded it from black into two shades of red (instead of green).

The reds were carefully blended near the tip of the muzzle giving it a "torch" look. A little pearl powder was added to the hand-rubbed dye near the butt/handle, and epoxy between layers gave the finish depth.
