Pargo Pounder

When Greg asked me to build the ultimate pargo hunting machine, I jumped at the chance - aside from halibut, pargo are my favorite fish to hunt.

The blueprint for the gun had already been laid out with Doug Jones' "Incredible Hulk" gun, so the only tricky part would be the finish.

We both wanted the gun to mimic the coloration and pattern of a pargo. Working with the same alcohol-based dyes I'd been using over the past couple months, along with chrome spray paint, the finish was achieved with a proven scientific technique known as "guess and check". The gun was finally sprayed with 3 layers of epoxy to protect the finish and give it that beautiful gloss.

As it turned out, the finish exceeded Greg's expectations, and it was even selected for the Sea Sniper ad in issue #33 of Hawaii Skin Diver Magazine.
